The
Craftsman: Aaron Easterday of The Superior Group |
|
Electrician Aaron Easterday demonstrated exceptional craftsmanship while completing the electrical installation for a new product line at The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company in Marysville.
Easterday led a crew of 49 to install the power distribution for the new process motor control center (MMC); the power and control wiring from the MCC to field devices; a new fire alarm system; and lighting throughout the process area.
The electrical design and installation took place concurrently, requiring Easterday to call on his experience to quickly and efficiently lay out the conduit routing.
The conduit was installed above existing piping and required the use of rigid pipe to minimize corrosion in the five-story facility. In all, 13 miles of conduit and 122 miles of wire were installed.
Easterday
and his crew logged 25,000 man hours in less than six months in order to meet
the customer’s shipping commitment.
A member of Electrical Workers Local Union 683, Easterday has been in the industry since 1983 and has been employed by The Superior Group for 13 years.
This is Easterday’s first Craftsmanship Award. He started his electrical training while still in high school by attending the Central Ohio Joint Vocational School, now Tolles Technical School, in Plain City.
This year, the Builders Exchange will honor 12 Craftsmanship Award recipients at the BX Annual Meeting on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at the Aladdin Shrine Center, 3850 Stelzer Rd.
