2010 BX Craftsmanship
Award Recipient

The Craftsman:  Bart Jones of W.F. Bolin Co., Inc.
His Winning Work:  Interior and exterior painting at Huntington Park

The application of interior and exterior paint throughout Huntington Park is the work of Bart Jones and his 11 crew members.

Jones was responsible for painting multiple areas throughout the ballpark, including exposed decking, steel supports, the light towers and flag poles, drywall, concrete masonry units, doors and frames.

To achieve a uniform color on the various materials; the project required the use of epoxy, industrial enamel and urethane paints. All three were selected for their durability in extreme weather conditions.

Several areas of the ballpark were difficult to access, not only because of their height and location, but also due to lift restrictions on the concrete. Jones utilized tower scaffolding to reach the exposed ceilings over the seating and swing stages to access the light towers on the roof.

Jones and his crew had just eight months to complete the project as the ballpark had to be ready by opening day.

A member of Allied Trades Local Union 1275, Jones has been employed by W.F. Bolin Co., Inc. for more than 24 of his 29 years in the industry.

Jones is a first-time Craftsmanship Award winner who entered the trade “by accident,” as a young man looking for a job. Since then, he has worked on Easton Town Center, the Columbus Convention Center, and the Ohio Supreme Court.

This year, the Builders Exchange will honor 12 Craftsmanship Award recipients at the BX Annual Meeting on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at the Aladdin Shrine Center, 3850 Stelzer Rd.
