Improving

Course topics include: the definition of productivity, how to measure productivity, valuable plan development, effective communication habits and how to define a role in improving productivity. The principles address
the entire construction project, from the early planning stages to working
on the final walk-through.
This program will review
Attendees
will learn the principles of scheduling and how to think through the
scheduling of a construction project. In
addition, they will review methods of organizing data, various schedule
presentations and practice time calculations.
BX Law and Financial Groups Combined Meeting Both created in 1991, the Law Group of the BX has been actively involved in presenting seminars on current legal issues impacting the commercial construction industry. Similiarly, the Financial Group has assisted in the development of seminars on economic trends, tax issues, financial and business planning, cash flow and job cost reports. Another benefit of membership to both groups includes the regular meetings held at the BX where members learn about current construction trends. BX Executive Director Cathy Blackford and Jim Hess (Messer Construction Co.) will host a State of the Union address about the BX during the August meeting.

Supervision & Jobsite Management I Learn the basic principles and techniques required to handle the day-to-day management of a jobsite from experienced industry professionals. This course is ideal for new field superintendents, foremen, leadmen, and office coordinators with less than six months experience.
Improving
Your Managerial Effectiveness Whether you’re an experienced manager or just getting started, this new program – developed for the BX by Franklin University’s Center for Professional Training and Development – can sharpen your skills. Students completing the program will understand: the skills needed to be an effective manager, the roles and responsibilities of a manager, the challenges of leading the diverse workforce in construction and their own action plan to improve their managerial effectiveness.
Estimating
and Bid Preparation This fundamental course
provides beginning estimators with practical organizational tools to
handle today's short deadlines, ongoing competition and reduced margins
for error. Experienced estimators teach the fundamentals of job cost estimating – from concept to bid – and cover the steps needed to prepare an accurate bid.
Advanced
Construction Drawings The course builds upon attendees’ existing plan reading and problem solving skills, plus develops their knowledge of how projects come together. Estimators, project managers, field superintendents, office personnel and general laborers are just a few of the types of employees who benefit from the knowledge this course offers.
Field
Supervision and Jobsite Management II This advanced level program is designed for field employees who want to further develop their management and organizational techniques to improve their overall skills within the industry. This course is ideal for construction managers, field superintendents, foremen, leadmen, and field employees wanting to further develop their management and leadership techniques to improve their skills within the industry.
Today's field superintendents and project managers are expected to lead. In this class, you will learn what leadership is and how to apply it to the jobsite. This class is part of the curriculum for the BX Certified Superintendent Program, however you do not need to be enrolled in the program to take this class.

Electrical license holders. The
class format allows you to obtain the hours you need to renew your license
in one session.
